There’s nothing like bringing two already great entertainers together. Even better when those two entertainers do it for the amusement of others - and best, when those two entertainers are comedians in their own right.

Such was the case of Wayne Brady and Dave Chappelle. Chappelle had done a sketch that made reference to Brady’s popularity among white viewers, with one of his cast members saying that “White people love Wayne Brady, because he makes Bryant Gumbel look like Malcolm X”. Chappelle later apologized to Brady over the phone and offered him a guest spot on the show.

And what a guest spot. Brady actually took over for Chappelle, albeit temporarily, when Chappelle “quit” the show. Most of the sketches thereafter contained Wayne Brady in an altogether un-Wayne Brady like format, complete with mass amounts of swearing and references back to the originally offensive sketch. (All in good fun, of course.) The result was one of the most popular Chappelle Show episodes to date.

Watch it if you can, the thing’s quite funny.

Wayne Brady’s done a lot of singing. He has his own show DEDICATED to singing. But he has yet to release a full album. Well, that streak is going to come to an end soon when Brady releases his debut full album entitled A Long Time Coming.

Brady just recently inked a contract with Peak Records to produce the album, which will be released in mid-September. The album is set to have several original and cover songs, those covers including “A Change is Gonna Come”, “Can’t Buy Me Love” and “All I Do”. The whole CD will be promoted by the single “Ordinary”, which was co-written by Sarah Nagourney, Welford B. Walton II and Jamie Jones, the singer for band All-4-One.

Sounds good, Brady. Just don’t forget the lyrics to your own songs. (That’d be pretty ironic, no?)

Whose Line Is It Anyway?, now several years canceled, was an improvisation comedy show that had four comedians performing a series of sketches for a live audience. Receiving suggestions form the audience the comedians would have to act out some ridiculous scene, ad libbing the entire time. The result was usually pretty funny.

Wayne Brady appeared in both the British and American versions of the show as a semi-regular. His specialty (not too surprising) was musical improvisation: among the other contestants he was the best singer, and usually the most successful in coming up with flowing lyrics that made sense and worked comically. He proved not quite as swift but still pretty good when it came to normal comic stylings, and was overall an excellent addition to the cast.

And, obviously, his prowess led to Brady landing plenty of other jobs in the entertainment business.

You can’t dabble in game shows and comedy sketches forever when it comes to Hollywood. And Wayne Brady, one of the most talented singers and general entertainers in Hollywood today, is certainly no exception.

Hence he joined up with ABC Family to create the movie The List, a romantic comedy starring Brady and Tamiia Poiter, daughter of the famed actor Sydney Poiter. The List is the story of Lewis, a man who’s madly in love with his girl. However he finds himself dumped by her on live television, and, heartbroken, he decides he needs to be very specific about the kind of girl he wants.

So Lewis writes a list of things he wants in a girl, a list of the elements present in his ‘perfect partner’. And, sure enough, after a bit of searching he comes across Camille, who fits his ideals perfectly. That said, though, can he manage to woo her and make their relationship work?

The List is another feel-good movie for the romantics out there, and a good popcorn muncher on a Saturday night.
